While surfing the web today I found an article that I found very interesting. I think market research is very interesting so I thought you might be interested in the link also. This article talks about how the Coach Company sets up its business to target the Coach outlet shoppers who are looking for a great purse at a great price and are not as concerned with having the latest style contrasted with the retail buyers who want the latest styles. Here is the Business Week article for your reading pleasure.

Coach Purses
Thursday, May 29th, 2008I have been on purse blogs where people are discussing the latest and greatest purse that a movie star was just seen using. These purses cost well over $5,000. Somehow that just does not fit into my reality. I currently could not drop $5,000 for a designer purse even if I wanted to. I guess time will tell whether that day will ever arrive, but at this point I just do not see myself spending that much money on a designer purse. However, I guess it is all relative because although I agree paying $400 for a Coach handbag is a lot of money, it is well worth it.
Coach is famous for its incredible quality of materials and workmanship. The purses come with a lifetime warranty. Although that is great for quality sake, I believe the average person will not use the purse that long. Especially for lovers of the Coach products, it is tempting to purchase the new styles that come out regularly rather than continue to use the bag on your arm. It is way more fun to purchase a new purse on a fairly regular basis.
Do you love to give yourself a special treat? For some it is chocolate, decadent desserts, vacations, or designer purses. I personally would choose all four! As for the designer purse category, Coach purses offer great quality at prices for everyone. Styles ranging from the lows $100s to upwards of over $1000 the Coach Company provides designer purse quality and style to a wide range of people. I love that you can be a stay at home mom or a movie star and have a Coach style that fits your personality and budget.
Although, Coach purses were already reasonably priced compared to other designer purses, the company has made changes to accommodate our current economy. I know there are people who make purse purchases anytime they want and the price is not an issue. According to market reports I read, the sales of Coach handbags priced above $400 are doing great. At this time, I cannot go out and purchase a purse for over $400 just because I would like one. This purchase would have to be planned, so I am definitely not one of the people fueling that report.
In an effort to reach those of us who must be more budget minded, Coach is offering a new line of lower priced handbags. Yes thanks Coach for the variety and possibilities to those of us who are putting more and more of our money towards gas and food, but still love designer bags. In addition to handbags, Coach offers a jewelry line, footwear, sunglasses, wallets, hat, cosmetic bags, etc. These options give any budget a way to enjoy the Coach quality at a price reasonable to you and your situation.
Conquering the Bottomless Pit
Wednesday, May 28th, 2008Conquering the Bottomless Pit
Yes, we have read in many articles on organization that everything needs a place. Obviously those writers don’t carry purses. I do believe in a purse that keeping everything in its place is very hard to do because throwing things in your purse is so easy. And if you are out and about with small children, like me, the last priority is to make sure your purse stays nice and organized. The little pockets on the inside of the purses are great ideas but do take extra time to use. Then you must remember to check the little pockets for stuff when you are looking for the missing item. So for the majority of my purse items, I have a simple strategy – carry a smaller sized purse to limit capacity and throw everything in it. I have had to modify that strategy to be able to find two key items – my keys and cell phone.
After tackling a grocery trip with four children, the last thing anyone in my family wants to do is wait after we have checked out while Mommy tries to find her keys while I try to keep the little ones seated and the loose kids from running away. Not such a great strategy, so I make a change.
I like to do things in small manageable steps. So for me, I had to solve my two most frustrating issues with my purse. Small and manageable steps are as key to me as quick and easy implementation. There was not time to go out and shop for the perfect purse to fit my key and phone issue, I needed to make a change fast.
So I switched around the use for the outside section on my purse that allows you to slide anything (and everything) for a quick place. Of course I had to pull out all kinds of little treasures, but now I was armed and ready. Waa, laa! The side pocket became the new home for the keys and phone in which I do not slide anything else.
It was unbelievable how that small change made such a difference in life. No more trying to find the keys and keep the kids all together in hectic public places while I dig. No more randomly ringing phone in an undisclosed location in my purse while everyone looks at you wondering when you are going to answer. Yes, control and order in the bottomless pit if only on two items – was great for me.
My next change came a few weeks later when I went to reach for a business card and out comes business cards with a feminine product. Thankfully, I was able to quickly drop with unwanted item without notice. But, potentially a pretty embarrassing situation. So for those nice little pockets in my purse, I only use one and that is for business cards. ☺
So enough about me, what about you? Take a second to think of the most frustrating part of using your purse…
a. Cannot ever find your car keys?
b. Your phone is ringing and ringing and still you cannot find it?
c. A pen? You know there is one, somewhere.
d. The information you need is on a piece of paper somewhere.
e. Do you get a worse headache just trying to find medicine in your purse?
f. Pictures of your family and pets get ruined before you can show anyone?
g. Need money but you know there is a twenty somewhere there?
Whatever it is for you. Just fix one thing this week that frustrates you about your purse. Then, leave a comment for everyone so our purses can be something that helps us look and feel great, not a source of frustration.
My Purse is a Bottomless Pit! What about yours?

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008Welcome to my BodaciousBag blog. I am thrilled that you have come to join our community of bag lovers. I hope we will have lots of fun and learn about great bags and products here. Because let’s face it whether you only carry designer handbags like Coach, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton or name brands are not a priority to you – the one thing we all have in common is we need a purse that works for everyday life. This blog is dedicated to sharing great information on new trends and styles, as well as, having a great time together talking about us.
It is hard to believe that I am 33 with 4 kids. It still feels strange to show up for classroom parties and chauffeur kids to the playfields. I do have to remind myself that I am that mom or maybe it is the four of them yelling ‘mom’ that brings me back to my reality. My husband and I are having a great time raising two girls and two boys with tons of adventure since they are 8 and under. I don’t know if anyone else has this challenge, but as the pace of life picks up with our kids, my time for adult conversation with other women has dramatically decreased.
I am really looking forward to getting to know you and learn about your life.
I love Coach purses so we will for sure talk lots about them. But there are many areas of my life that designer handbags do not quite fit. For instance, at the ball fields last night I learned of a new type of ball bag that works for smaller children and a great place to get it online at a killer price. My family and I are getting ready for our first major family vacation in which I pull out my trusted ‘Emmie’ bag (I will tell you about my ‘Emmie’ bag in a different post) and my Colorado backpack that has been on day hikes and a trip to Honduras. I will show you my diaper bag with a fun twist and we will talk about the latest and greatest trends. For me, I love designer purses but cannot buy them all time. But I have many areas of life that call for different handbag needs. So from Coach purses to beach totes to baseball ball bags, we can share information that we need for our daily lives.
Take a second to introduce yourself in the comment section. I would love to know you.
